Yr6 Weekly Update – 05/05/17
How We Express Ourselves The Exhibition
ACTION!
We hope everyone had a great extra long weekend!
Although we had a short week this week we want to let you know that students should be thinking about how they are going to express themselves about their exhibition issue.
They should also be thinking about what ACTION they are going to take.
Many people, including our current students, think that Action is easy to define. Most people think it is just something you do. But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. As we know, change is hard. So how do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?
If we want the students to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers because they are doing the Exhibition.
Please discuss with your child what kind of action that is feasible for them to do that relates to their Global Goal.
Here is an example of action from a school in Phnom Penh that have been inquiring into deforestation. As part of their process, they visited a local nursery. They returned to their school with some frangipani trees, then they went out with some of the gardening team to plant them in the school grounds. Small, direct, meaningful action.
Mr Paul Melsom, our gardener will be giving information about a tree planting on Lantau Island that he is organising. Details will be in the school newsletter on Monday. Please take a look. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.
