Yr4 Weekly Update – 05/12/17
We have had a great week of science this week We’ve been designing experiments, measuring, controlling variables and talking about the effects of a change in our experiments. We’ve been developing our journalling skills to record what we have found out. We’ve been collecting and analysing data as well as developing our measuring skills in time, area, length, mass and volume/capacity. Readers have been determining importance in non-fiction resources and using their notes to summarise and synthesise.
We visited the Hong Kong Science Museum on Wednesday and looked for real life examples of simple machines. Thanks to the parents who came with us!
This week we’ve also been preparing students for the transition to Year 5. As you know, the classes are split for a number of educational reasons, and creating balanced classes is a complex procedure. This move presents a great opportunity for students to develop the attributes of the learner profile. There will inevitably be some students feeling a little anxious about moving up to a new class and working with students that they may not know as well. Please take the time to reassure them that we all feel a bit like this sometimes and that becoming courageous is one of our most important goals.
