Yr2 Weekly Update - 06/02/17Where we are in place and timeKnowledge of family history helps us understand the connection between past and present Unit of Inquiry So how do people record their family histories, or the histories of larger groups? This is what we found out: Nursery Rhymes Fairy Tales Myths and Legends Recipes Traditions Singing Dancing Painting Taking photos Recording video Recording sounds, especially people talking in dying languages Collecting everyday items such as clothing, office implements, toys or special tools. Writing diaries Writing books If you have any of these sorts of family history records at home, and they are not too precious, it would be lovely for the kids to bring them in and share. Literacy Research has been the main focus of our literacy work and that has meant using the ICT resources to find things out. But how do you find things out? You ask someone! We have been designing and then sharing surveys with our families. However, before you can even think about all that, you have to remember how to log on. Here we see Otto reminding us of where to find our user name and password. Mathematics Keira and Aarya show off their plan for expanding the school's fresh food production. They measured out the areas we could investigate and used their understanding of area and length to create realistic proposals. Over enthusiastic about maths! Impossible. Here we discover the joy of discovery as we uncover the patterns inherent in the world around us. Important notes: Dentist visit coming up for 2P Book week next week |
