Dear KJS Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you well.We are thrilled to share that the Year 6 amazing race event was a great success today. Students worked together, supporting each other through a range of both physical and mental activities. It was a fantastic display of teamwork and perseverance. Thank you Mr Riddell and Ms Hadley who helped make this event a success.
I would like to extend thanks to all the parents who attended the Year 1 Phonics workshop yesterday. Your participation and support are invaluable, and we appreciate your commitment to your child’s learning. A huge thanks to the staff involved for putting on this event.
Finally, just a reminder that the school is closed next Tuesday for the public holiday to celebrate National Day. We hope you are able to enjoy this time with family and friends,
As always, thank you for being such an essential part of our KJS community.

RAFFLE PRIZES AND DONATION ITEMS FOR PTA:
Each year, prior to our annual school fair, the PTA organises a fundraising through the sale of raffle tickets to support the enhancement of school resources and equipment. Last academic year, thanks to a generous contribution of over $220,000 from the PTA, our school was able to acquire 30 new interactive whiteboards, significantly benefiting the students and teachers of KJS in their daily activities. In 2023, the PTA also donated $350,000 to the school for the purchase of new Bose sound systems, which are currently in use in the Hall and the Library. Furthermore, in previous years, the PTA has contributed funds towards various projects, including the establishment of the Sky Garden.
This year, one of our primary objectives is to raise funds to support the renovation of the playground areas throughout the school. We invite your support through donations and sponsorships to help us achieve this goal.
Donations can take many forms, from items and materials to financial contributions
What You Can Do:
- Donate Items: anything from stationery, sports equipment, books, iPads, macbooks, chromebooks, etc – anything that you are comfortable to donate, they can be used for events or given as raffle prizes.
- Provide Vouchers for Items / Services – which can be used for events or given as raffle prizes
- Financial Contributions: Make cash donations to support PTA initiatives
- Corporate Sponsorship: If you own a business or have a friend/ company that is interested in becoming a corporate sponsor, offering products or services, please connect with us! – We will make sure all sponsors benefit from brand visibility at school events.
Benefits:
- Recognition: Gain recognition within the school community for your generosity.
- Tax Benefits: your donations might be tax-deductible, a receipt will be provided upon request.
Please contact the PTA directly to donate products/prizes :
pta@kjs.edu.hk | 6211-4254 WhatsApp | Tel: 3765-8709
If you wish to donate cash via cheque or bank transfers – they would be very welcome.
The PTA bank details are: Account Name: Kowloon Junior School PTA Ltd, Nanyang Commercial Bank, Acc # 04348100068852.
Please ensure that you put your child’s name and class or company name in the reference notes so that we know who has paid it. Just providing us with the transfer number may not give us the relevant information of the donor (thank you for understanding!).
Thank you for your continued commitment to our school community! We appreciate each and single one of you ❤️
Lunch provision at KJS
The school lunch provider here at KJS is Chartwells, which won the contract through a robust tendering process through the ESF procurement team.
The interests of the KJS Community for lunch provision are overseen by the PTA Administrator, Rekha Mahbubani.
If you have any issues with Chartwells lunches, please contact Rekha for assistance or information.
We would also recommend that you involve your children in the menu selection process so that they know what they are getting and also they are then more likely to eat the food if they have chosen it! We often hear stories from the children that they don’t like what has been ordered….
If your child has an issue with their lunch, from home or Chartwells, please encourage them to show an adult and then come to the PTA office for assistance. There are usually extra meal boxes that can be given in the event of a mishap.
We encourage all parents to get involved in the activities of the school, it’s a great way to get to see how things work and really feel like a part of this wonderful community!
Have a super weekend!
Best wishes,
The KJS PTA Team.

Student Success
Thank you for sharing your child’s achievements with us over the past year.
While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student’s accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.
That being said, we encourage you to share your child’s achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child’s accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community’s strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
