Like you, we are very excited about the increase in numbers permitted in school, and we look forward, with anticipation, to a continuingly safe return of even more children. KJS is operating within the guidelines set by the EDB, which permits one third of the school capacity. I am sure some families will have connections to other ESF and international schools where it appears the school has far more than ⅓ in school. The difference is the approved capacity a school has, and for KJS and other schools built in the recent era, the capacity very closely matches the actual roll (in our case 900). For other schools, the capacity can be substantially higher than the roll resulting in the availability to bring in more than ⅓ of its children. We will continue to work closely with ESF and the EDB to ensure we can safely bring in the maximum number of children within these guidelines set by the Government. We are aware ‘in school' learning enhances a sense of wellbeing for students through the feeling of belonging, connection to peers, friends and staff, and to opportunity for specialists and hands on learning. To further enhance wellbeing, we are supporting the ‘March the World 1' challenge. This initiative promotes physical wellbeing, family connectedness, achievement, opportunity, and respect for self and others. Additionally, through participation not only will physical wellbeing be enhanced, but children and families will also be supporting vulnerable children in Hong Kong through ‘Variety, the Children's Charity'. As we head towards March, we encourage you to consider this positive option for your child and family.
