At KJS we truly value the strong partnership we have with our families, and we appreciate your continued support and involvement in our school community. Year One held a fantastic Art Exhibition earlier this week. It was great to see so many families come and join in with the students as well as celebrate the fantastic range of artwork the children had on display. This morning, we were thrilled to celebrate a wonderful Lunar New Year with an exciting Lion Dance performance. It was a delight to see all the students and staff come together to enjoy this vibrant event. The energy and joy radiated through the school, creating a sense of unity and celebration. Our Chinese New Year assemblies were absolutely fantastic! The students showcased their talents through various performances of dance, drama and song. I am incredibly grateful to the Chinese team at KJS for their efforts in making these assemblies possible. As we embrace the Year of the Snake, we wish everyone prosperity and happiness. I hope everyone enjoys this special time with their family and friends. Kung Hey Fat Choi ! Mr Gavin MacGregor Principal Library NewsCelebrating Student Success: Hailey Shing's Posties Article Our Library Team is pleased to share that Hailey Shing from 6NG has had her article published in the January 20th, 2025 edition of Posties Issue #638. Hailey took a unique approach by sharing insights about herself and her interests, making her piece stand out. Through our interview with Hailey, we learned that it took her two days to write this article, and her mom was the inspiration behind her story. Hailey shared that her mom once wrote to the newspaper ten times before finally getting published, reminding us all of the importance of perseverance. As Hailey says, "Even if you don't get it in your first try, keep trying." To honor her achievement and showcase the work of our talented students, we've created a dedicated page on our KJS Virtual Library. Here, you can read Hailey's article along with other contributions from our students. We invite you to check it out and learn more about Hailey and her writing! A Friendly Reminder About Library Book Returns We hope this message finds you and your family well. The library team wanted to reach out to share an important reminder about the significance of exchanging books regularly and returning them on time. Our library system automatically sends overdue notices when students don't return their books during their weekly sessions. Reminder notices follow, and by the third week, we assume the books are lost. While this process is necessary, it's essential to remember that timely returns ensure all students have access to the books they love. In our library classes, we emphasize the importance of returning books on time. When students forget to bring their library books, it prevents them from borrowing new ones and exploring the wonderful world of reading. We encourage students to choose books freely, even if they already have a stack at home, as this fosters their love for reading. We warmly invite parents to engage with their children in this journey. Spending time together discussing book selections can cultivate a lifelong passion for reading. As students grow older and transition to secondary school, they often find it harder to make time for reading. It's crucial to nurture this love for books both at school and at home. Recently, we've noticed an increasing number of overdue books, some left unreturned for over two months. This not only impacts your child's reading journey but also hinders access to these books for other eager readers. We appreciate your support in reminding your children to return their books on time. If a book is lost, please reach out to Ms. Lau at macy.lau@kjs.edu.hk so we can arrange for an invoice for replacement books. We kindly ask that families do not send their own replacements. Thank you so much for your cooperation and commitment to fostering a love of reading in our school community. Together, we can ensure every child has the chance to enjoy the stories that inspire and entertain them. News from the PTAWe are almost at the start of the New Lunar Year! While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student's accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated. That being said, we encourage you to share your child's achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child's accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best. We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community's strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students. Disclaimer
