Newsletter- 22/06/22Kowloon Junior School's latest newsletter is available to read now. Dates for Your Diary23 June Year 6 Leaver Assemblies 24 June Last day of Term 3 (school ends at 12:00) Dear KJS Families, One of the first interactions that I had with a student today was about school holidays. The student expressed disappointment about having to have a holiday instead of being at KJS every day over the summer. While a little surprising at first, it makes a lot of sense that some students will feel like this after another interrupted school year. I have shared on several occasions how proud I am of our students, teachers, and EAs for the incredible attitude that they brought to distance learning on a daily basis, but, even with the greatest will in the world, distance learning cannot fully replace the genuine sense of connection felt in-person. Going back to the abovementioned student interaction, I pointed out that, while what was being felt by the student was uncomfortable, the silver lining is being part of a school where you feel supported, heard, and a sense of belonging. I would like to thank all of you for your support on so many levels this school year. Despite all of the challenges, there was never a day when I didn't look forward to connecting with the KJS community in some way, shape, or form. The school year has raced by for me, and I feel that I have been part of this community for somewhat longer than just one year. I am privileged to be able to serve the community for another school year, and I will have a great opportunity to continue to support the many and varied initiatives that we have going on across the school. I even have a couple of my own that I will be able to lead from August onwards. Finally, I would like to wish all of you a safe and enjoyable break. I hope that you and your family seek and find meaningful and engaging ways to spend the time and that we can look forward to brighter times ahead. Irrespective of the challenges to come, whatever they may be, I believe that KJS will stand strong as a beacon of hope and simply a wonderful place to be and learn.
