Principal’s Message

Dear KJS Families,

We hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your continued support and partnership.

We hope everyone enjoyed celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with family and friends. This special time of year brings joy and togetherness, and we are grateful for the vibrant community we share.

We had a good turnout for both our parent workshops on Monday this week, to support parents in navigating their way through our different library resources to support students’ learning and literacy.

We are excited to announce that KJS will be the first ESF primary school to join the Alliance for Sustainable Schools (TASS). This international non-profit network of schools is dedicated to accelerating the transition to a sustainable future. Members share a commitment to the principles of the Sustainable Schools Charter. We will be signing the charter at the end of October, and more information will follow in the coming weeks.

Camp information for Year 5 was sent out this week. We are very excited, as always, to organise these valuable experiences for our students.

As we look ahead, we are excited about the opportunities for collaboration and growth that await us. Thank you for being a vital part of our journey.

Mr Gavin MacGregor

Principal

News from the PTA

Hello KJS Community,

PTA Membership Fees

All parents would have received the following message from our school Finance Dept. on Monday 16 Sept:

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the PTA, the invoice for the PTA membership fee has been sent to the Payment System.

The PTA membership fee is HK$200 per family.  We’d appreciate it if you’d log in to the Gateway/ESF app and access the Payment System to settle the invoice before 22 Sep 2024.  Invoice can be settled by credit card or PPS and/or balance in the eWallet(if any).  If you have any questions regarding making a payment, please refer to the guide here.

If you have any questions regarding PTA, please contact our PTA Administrator at pta@kjs.edu.hk.

Thank you for your support.

We would like to remind parents, as per the ESF Ordinance, membership of the PTA is mandatory for all families of ESF schools. The compulsory fee at KJS is a nominal $200 per year per family (you do not have to pay for each child). We would appreciate it if you could settle this by the deadline of 22 Sept. Thank you to those families who have already done this, your support is much appreciated. Every dollar made is given back to the school for the benefit of the children.

Class Reps

Thank you to all those parents who signed our new Code of Conduct form, we  had over 800 respondents!

All those who signed before the deadline of 19 Sept. will be given access to the PTA Class Rep groups.

This new form is to ensure the safety and integrity of the group chats with managing expectations and parameters of acceptable usage of this important communications platform.

This form is compulsory for those who wish to be part of the official PTA group chats.

For those who did not manage to submit the form in time, we will try to arrange another window soon. Thank you to the dedicated parents who have volunteered for this role to manage and administer the groups for each class.

Spooky Boogie Ball!  24 Oct 4:30-7:00

Student Success

Thank you for sharing your child’s achievements with us over the past year.

While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student’s accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.

That being said, we encourage you to share your child’s achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child’s accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community’s strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
