Dates for Your Diary
6 January First Day of Term 2
Principal’s Message
Dear KJS Families,
As we approach the end of this term, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to our entire Kowloon Junior School community. This term has been filled with achievements, growth, and memorable experiences, all of which would not have been possible without the collective effort of our dedicated staff, students, supportive PTA, and our wonderful parent community.
This week, we witnessed some fantastic athletic events that showcased the talent and sportsmanship of our students. A special thanks goes out to Ms. Hadley and Mr. Ridell for their organization and passion throughout these events. Thank You also to all the families that came and supported.
As we wrap up this term, I’d like to wish a very Merry Christmas to all those celebrating, and a Happy New Year to everyone in our diverse KJS family. May this holiday season bring you joy, peace, and quality time with your loved ones.
A reminder that we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday January 6th, ready for another exciting term of learning and growth.
Once again, thank you all for your continued support and commitment to making Kowloon Junior School a wonderful place for our children to learn and thrive.
Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable holiday break!
Mr Gavin MacGregor

Student Counsellor Message
Dear KJS Parents,
I want to extend my warmest greetings to everyone. We just wrapped up Term 1, and all the children worked very hard this year at Kowloon Junior School. As we mark the end of the year, this is a time to show our gratitude and appreciation to each other, as well as to spend time with our loved ones and friends.
I have attached the video presentation on Flexible Thinking, along with the slides. For the upcoming Parent Workshops, please stay tuned for the schedule for the February session. Some of the topics that will be presented in the coming year include:
- Emotional Regulation
- Friendship & Kindness
- What is Neurodiversity?
- Celebrating Year 6 students’ achievements and preparing their new journey to Middle School
Based on parents’ feedback, I am exploring the idea of having two separate sessions for the monthly Parent Workshop. The aim is to make it more accessible for parents to participate and share their thoughts and experiences. I also welcome any suggestions or ideas for the presentations. We will continue to improve the live video recording and ensure the slides are available for all parents and guardians.
I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and relaxing New Year! I look forward to meeting you all soon.
Kind regards,
Ian Ong

Library News
Happy Holidays!
We are excited to share that students have borrowed an extra book to enjoy during the holiday break! As many families will be traveling, we kindly remind you to keep library books in Hong Kong. This has already been communicated to the students.
If your child wants to continue their reading adventures while traveling, KJS Library offers paid subscriptions to Epic and Wheelers. EPIC class codes were shared at the beginning of the year. For Wheelers, please remember that the login is your splat login and the password is kjs1234. Feel free to change the password after your first login.
Additionally, if you’re traveling, we warmly invite you to consider donating a mother tongue book to our library. We aim to enrich our collection to better represent our diverse student body.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our library team at library@kjs.edu.hk.
Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
Kind regards,
KJS Library Team

News from the PTA
Hello KJS Community,
Last day of Term 1! And what a fabulous term it has been. We hope all our Community have enjoyed all the activities and events of this term, especially our new families, and that everyone is ready for a good break to relax and enjoy with the children.
City’super and LOG-ON discounts
We hope everyone enjoyed and took advantage of the super shopping days at City’super and LOG-ON that we arranged for our families. We would love to hear your feedback so that we can explore more opportunities with companies for the benefit of our families. Please email us at pta@kjs.edu.hk with your comments.
We would also like to thank the team from City’super for coordinating the discounts and arranging this for us.
Live Zoom call from the South Pole!
KJS students and staff were so lucky that we got to have a live Zoom call from Antarctica with our special friend Lonnie Bedwell. So many things had to be in place for this to happen including the weather, Lonnie’s schedule, a strong internet connection and the KJS timetable. A special thanks to those classes who did join in the call, supported by our Principal Mr MacGregor and our very active parent who linked us to Lonnie in the first instance, Steve Cannon. KJS is proud to have Drake and the school emblem flying at the summit of Mt Vinson, and hopefully, the South Pole soon!
New Uniforms from January
Please remember that from January 6 2025, the old uniforms (beige pants, shorts and skorts) will no longer be used at KJS. Only the new navy blue items will be considered as official uniforms.
Last, we wish all our families a wonderful festive season, whether you are travelling overseas or enjoying the atmosphere locally, stay safe and really enjoy the time with your families.
Happy Holidays!
Best wishes,
The KJS PTA Team.

Student Success
Thank you for sharing your child’s achievements with us over the past year.
While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student’s accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.
That being said, we encourage you to share your child’s achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child’s accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community’s strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
