First and foremost, I want to remind you about our upcoming three-way conferences next Thursday evening and all day Friday. These conferences are a valuable opportunity for us to come together and discuss your child's progress and goals. Please ensure that you have scheduled your conference time with your child's teacher, and kindly note that school will be closed to pupils on the Friday. I also want to take a moment to celebrate our wonderful staff. This week, we had a delightful Diwali lunch on Wednesday. I would like to extend my thanks to all the staff members involved in organising this event. Additionally, I want to commend our students and staff for their fantastic Diwali assemblies today. The performances, including dance, stories, yoga, and even a teacher dance, were simply outstanding. Thank you to everyone who took part and contributed to the preparations. It was truly a celebration to remember. I had the pleasure of attending my first off-site Hong Kong sports competition this week. The HKPSSA football tournament was held at the Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre in Tseung Kwan O. A group of our year 5 and 6 students took part in matches against both ESF and other International schools. I must say, the level of play was great with some students improving with confidence throughout the day. I was incredibly proud of our young athletes and how positively they represented the school. Lastly, I would like to extend warm wishes to those who are celebrating Diwali. May this festival of lights bring you joy, prosperity, and happiness. These cultural traditions enrich our school community, and we are grateful for the diverse perspectives and experiences that we can all share. Warm regards, Mr Gavin MacGregor Principal Kowloon Football Festival, 2023Over 300 of the top footballers from across the Kowloon area came together on Thursday to compete in the Kowloon Schools Festival at Tseung Kwan O. 18 players from the KJS Football programme earned their place in the squads and did a fantastic job of representing the school. They all played with determination, passion and skill. Their efforts secured a place in the Hong Kong Primary Schools Sports Association Football Championships to be held at the same venue on Friday, December 1st. This tournament will pit the best schools from Kowloon against those from the Island side. Congratulations to all the players who represented KJS so well. Kowloon Schools Mixed Netball Festival, 2023On Monday 6th November, nine school teams came together to compete in the Kowloon Schools Mixed Netball Festival. Twenty of our Y6 students were selected to represent KJS across two teams. It was a hot day and all players fought hard to maintain high energy and effort levels throughout the event. With each game it was fantastic to see the growth and development in their individual and team play. Congratulations to all who participated. KJS and Crossroads FoundationI'm pleased to share we made our first crossroads donation this week. As a community we donated over 150 pairs of sports shoes and over 100 sportswear items. What a fantastic effort. This is an ongoing initiative so please keep your old sports shoes coming. Sports shoes are the most sought after items. Best wishes, The KJS PTA Team Student SuccessThank you for sharing your child's achievements with us over the past year. While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student's accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated. That being said, we encourage you to share your child's achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child's accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best. We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community's strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students. Disclaimer
