Acting Principal’s Message
Dear KJS Families,
I hope this message finds you all well. We’ve had an exciting time in our school community, and I’m thrilled to share some highlights with you.
Battle of the Books Semi-Final
Last Thursday, we held the Battle of the Books Semi-Final in the KJS Hall. It was an exciting event, especially as it coincided with Star Wars Day – May the 4th (be with you). Teams from SJS, ISF, DC, DBIS, YMCA, and our very own KJS competed with great energy, enthusiasm, and team spirit. I’m proud to announce that KJS finished second after a fantastic competition! A huge thank you to Macy Lau and all of the staff who supported the event and helped our KJS team prepare. It was wonderful to see so many students, staff, and families from KJS and other schools in-person again.
The KJS Times
We’re excited to share the latest edition of The KJS Times, which you can find here. This edition is one of the most anticipated yet, as it reveals the winner of the fantastic Kowloon in Bloom competition. Students and staff created amazing natural displays and presentations that highlight the wonderful learning opportunities the natural world offers. The standard was incredibly high across the board, and all entries were truly deserving winners. The KJS Times continues to be an excellent platform for our students to develop as leaders, celebrate the school community, and model exceptional communication skills.
Jump Rope for Heart
A quick reminder that all year five students will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart at KJS next Tuesday. Your support regarding sponsorship and donations is much appreciated. Let’s cheer our young hearts on as they jump for a great cause!
KJS Community Facebook Page
Lastly, I’d like to encourage all families to join our new KJS Community Facebook Page. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to share and celebrate the fantastic learning happening across the school. While the school will also post updates, this initiative is about everyone getting involved to strengthen connections within our community. We look forward to seeing your contributions! You can access it here.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Together, we are making KJS an even more wonderful place for our children to learn, grow, and thrive.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Jamie Schmitz – Acting Principal

Recycle Uniforms- Volunteers Needed!
To promote the school ethos of sustainability and recycling, we invite volunteers to come forward so that we can arrange a drive for gently used uniforms (only) before the end of this school year. Many parents have been asking about this and the PTA would be happy to support it if we can get enough volunteers to help.
Please contact Rekha in the PTA Office via email pta@kjs.edu.hk or call her on 3765-8709 if you are able to help with this. If we can get enough volunteers, we will arrange to collect and recycle the items here on the school site.
Have a great week ahead!

Student Success
Dear parents,
Thank you for sharing your child’s achievements with us over the past year. As the school principal, I am always delighted to hear about the accomplishments and growth of our students. We appreciate your enthusiasm in wanting to share these achievements with our school community.
In recent times, as we continue to adapt to the post-pandemic context, our focus has shifted back to the original purpose of our school’s social media channels. Our goal is to use these platforms to strengthen the school community by highlighting the many events, activities, and collaborative projects that involve our students, staff, and families. Through this approach, we aim to foster a sense of unity and celebrate the collective accomplishments of our school community.
While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student’s accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.
That being said, we encourage you to share your child’s achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child’s accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community’s strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
Kind regards,
Dr. Jamie Schmitz
