Principal's Message

Dear Families,

I hope all is well with you all.

It has been a very eventful week with our first year 6 residential for over 5 years. The 4 day camp was based at the Tung Sze Scout Centre. The students showed great teamwork and enthusiasm. Huge thanks to all the staff who attended and supported them.

This experience provided our students with valuable opportunities to develop independence, resilience, and teamwork skills. We are incredibly proud of their achievements during this memorable visit.

A huge thanks again for all those that attended the PTA Winter Fair last Friday. It was a great success with over 1700 people in attendance. The community spirit was truly remarkable, and we appreciate the support from all the families who contributed to this fantastic event.

Let's not  forget it's our year groups athletics days next week. We're all looking forward to these great sporting events and of course the huge fun involved.

Please also be reminded the school is closed for students on this coming Monday, December 11th.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards,

Mr Gavin MacGregor

Principal

Please see below the key information you'll need to know for the day;

The Athletics Days will be held on the Perth Street Sports Ground and can be accessed via Shek Ku Street. (see map below)

  • Children should come to school wearing their P.E. kit and school hat.

KJS and Crossroads Foundation

I am pleased to share an email of thanks and gratitude directly from the Crossroads Foundation for the kindness and generosity of the KJS community. Clearly we are making a difference to the lives of many individuals who are less fortunate than us.

We are writing to express our gratitude for your kind donation of sports equipment and clothing to support people in need. Thank you for your generosity and thoughtfulness.

Of the goods donated to Crossroads, 50% are distributed to people across Hong Kong, through Social Welfare agencies and a wide range of NGOs. These goods help individuals and families in need, educational institutions, the elderly, families in crisis, orphanages, people with special needs, rehab services, social enterprises, medical clinics and services, women and youth at risk, new immigrants, vocational training programmes etc.

The balance is sent to charities serving the gamut of need in over 90 countries around the world. Over the past few months, for example, shipments have been sent to our partners in South Africa, Malaysia, Moldova, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Cameroon and Bangladesh.

Each day, we see donated items helping to transform, in strategic ways, the lives of others facing challenging circumstances. In fact, your donation goes far beyond providing physical comfort; it brings a renewed sense of hope and dignity to individuals and families, allowing them to take the next step towards a better future.

Thank you once again for your donation and for your kindness and commitment to helping others.

Yours sincerely,

Liz Begbie, for the Crossroads team

Please keep the shoe donations coming and remember - to help streamline the ongoing collection and make it easier to process items for collection please help by adhering to the following;

  • ONLY sports shoes please. NO school shoes.

  • Attach sports shoes together by the laces/velcro straps or tie together through the back heel loops

  • Please don't use plastic bags. Place only the sports shoes in the collection box.

Crossroads' Foundation provides aid for relief and development in over 90 countries, as well as in

Hong Kong, their headquarters.

Our KJS community can help. Please bring your unwanted sports shoes and sports kit to the donation box outside the school office.

*Please note; all donated items MUST be in good condition.

News from the PTA

Hello KJS Community,

Hello, we are almost at the end of the term and what a great event  we had at the

KJS PTA Winter Festival last Friday on 1 December 2023.

Lots of games, activities, music, food, dancing, prizes and gifts, everyone had a blast!

We had a fantastic turnout with over 1700 people attending and a big “Thank you” to our parents, staff and student volunteers that made it all happen so wonderfully!

And if you enjoyed this one, wait till the big School Fair which is coming in March! For those kind donors who have pledged gifts for the March Fair raffle, please send them to the PTA Office so we can confirm them.

Planning has already started for that and we look forward to a fantastic event with everyone's help.

Have a great weekend!

Best wishes,

The KJS PTA Team

Student Success

Thank you for sharing your child's achievements with us over the past year.

While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student's accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.

That being said, we encourage you to share your child's achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child's accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community's strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
