Dear KJS Families,

There is no better way to begin this piece than by acknowledging the amazing celebration of learning that was last Thursday's in-person PYP Exhibition Showcase. The sessions with students last Wednesday were also fantastic, but there was something special about having families ‘back in the building'. I had multiple Y6 students say to me that they were genuinely surprised by how many adults outside of their family members were interested in what they had learned. The energy and pride that our students experienced through the simple acting of sharing in-person was tangible, and I don't think that calling this an unforgettable experience for students is an overstatement. While I have already thanked our staff for their support of Y6 students, it's also important for me to thank all of you who have students in Y6 for your support and guidance.

The first of our two Y4 Day Camps is planned to go ahead this Friday, and we hope that the weather will be kind to us. It's been a long wait for our Y4 students, and we know that they are very excited at the prospect of experiencing education outdoors. The second day is planned for 17/6.

As part of our commitment to making learning more visible at KJS and inviting student voices more regularly to help us to evaluate our impact, we are currently collecting data around feedback. We are doing this through a combination of surveys and interviews. We will then begin the process of analysing all of the data when we return in August, making good use of the professional development days that we have arranged before students return on 23/8.

Kind regards,

Dr Jamie Schmitz

Principal
