Acting Principal's Message
Dear KJS Families,
The PTA-led Family Fun Day on March 18th is fast approaching, and I would like to thank those of you who have signed up to contribute to the event and/or support as a volunteer. We could definitely do with some more volunteers to ensure smooth running on the day, so if you are able to spare an hour or more to help run one of the stalls then that would be greatly appreciated. Simply contact the KJS PTA Office to do so. The large number of families who have expressed an interest in attending is very encouraging, and our aim is to make it a fun and engaging community-building event. I hope to see as many of you as possible there on the day.
Recently, we conducted a Fire Drill at KJS after making a number of significant changes to the procedure. The results were aligned with our aims of reducing congestion and increasing efficiency, and we will continue to adjust the procedure in response to the feedback we received. We will be scheduling another drill after the Easter break. Additionally, it is important that KJS has a Lockdown Procedure in place. This process is almost the opposite of an evacuation procedure and requires careful planning and clear communication regarding its purpose and how it works. My aim is to have an updated draft procedure in place at KJS that is ready to practice early in the next school year.
I am very happy to share that we will be able to hold Student-led Conferences at KJS at the end of April. As these will be the first conferences of this type at KJS for a number of years, we will also be giving parents and students the opportunity to connect directly with the class teacher during the conference time. We are putting together information for families, including a video, to share during the last week of March.

News from the PTA
Hello KJS Community,
Friends and Family Fun Day 18 March
The countdown is on, only 10 days to go!
The response to attend has been great, but we still need parent food donations. If you can bring in even a small plateful of any food item please let us know by filling in this Form. It can be sandwiches, sushi, samosas or spring rolls, cakes or cookies!
Please note that the form for donations and volunteers will shut down at the end of the school day on Friday 10 March to allow us to prepare schedules and the next steps.
If you intend to come to this event, we request you to let us know by signing in here to help us with our planning.
The event is on from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and families may arrive and leave anytime between then. There is no entrance fee, food will be available for sale and there will be games stalls, music, students performing and dancing.
Free PTA bags will be given to those who register and attend (while stocks last).
As this will be a large-scale event, for safety's sake, children must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Please do not plan to drop your children off by themselves, even if they are in a senior year group.
The Google Form for children's performances is now closed, thank you to all of you who registered. If you were unable to make it this time, don't worry, there will be other opportunities in the coming months for your children to show us their talents.
Book Collection
We had a fantastic collection of books last week from the Book Character Day (it was such an amazing atmosphere here!) and it's still not too late if you would like to donate books that your child no longer reads and would like to share with others. The collection boxes will be outside the PTA office all this week.
Class Representatives
We still have vacancies for representatives for the following classes: 2S, 4T, 5S, 6K and 6N.
