Principal’s Message
Dear KJS Families,
As we approach the end of the academic year, the weeks are becoming increasingly busy at our school. I am delighted to say that I observed some excellent work happening across all year groups during my visits this week. Our students continue to demonstrate remarkable focus and dedication to their learning. A huge thanks to our teachers also at this particularly busy time of the year.
Unfortunately, we experienced some weather-related disruptions this week with both our year 1 school trip and cricket tournament being cancelled due to thunderstorm warnings. Despite this, I would like to extend a huge thank you to the parents who volunteered to support these events. Let’s hope that the weather in Hong Kong becomes more stable in the coming weeks.
Our school orchestra had a wonderful opportunity to visit Sha Tin Junior School this week for an ESF-wide orchestra performance. The children and staff returned full of excitement, when viewing the many videos and photos of the musical performances it was clear how much joy events such as these provide for the students and staff involved. A huge thanks to Ms Swett for leading and preparing our students.
I want to also express my gratitude to all the parents who participated in our Q&A sessions over the past weeks and provided valuable feedback on our timetable proposal. Your insights are appreciated, we have been actively collecting all the feedback to present a comprehensive overview of the proposals soon. Your ongoing support and partnership mean a great deal to us, and we are truly thankful for your involvement in our school community.
Warm regards,
Mr Gavin MacGregor
Principal

● Parents can also choose to donate the balance to the school for the purchase of teaching and learning supplies.
● For those who fail to submit a request, no refund cheque will be prepared and the balance will be donated to the school automatically in August 2024. No further notification will be sent out to these parents.

Message from School Nurse
We would like to take a moment to remind you about the importance of informing the school office and school nurse about your child’s sick leave. By utilizing our school App or email system, you can play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for our students.
When your child is unwell and unable to attend school, notifying the school office on a daily basis allows us to keep track of absences. In addition to informing us about sick leave, it is equally important to provide us with an updated list of symptoms and diagnosis. This helps us monitor and take further action for any potential outbreaks of communicable diseases, e.g. hand, foot, mouth disease, scarlet fever, URTI, etc. This information helps us take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of illnesses and protect other students and staff members.
In cases where your child visits a healthcare professional for their illness, providing a medical certificate would give us more information about the nature of the illness and help us to monitor and manage any outbreaks effectively.
By working together and staying proactive, we can maintain a healthy and safe environment and ensure your child’s well-being at KJS.

News from the PTA
Hello KJS Community,
The very exciting news we have today is of course, it’s Drake the Dragon Day at KJS!
We have had so many activities going on with author visits to classrooms, “Spot the Drake” across the campus, Drake activities in different classrooms and of course, the children wearing Drake colours.
And for the parents who have ordered Drake via the new PTA website, our team has been busy processing them and they have been delivered to your child’s class this afternoon.
If you have not yet ordered your Drake, it’s not too late! Log into the website and view the many Drake items on offer. Orders can be picked up from the PTA Office after 4 working days.
A Huge thanks To Mrs Leah Bailey for her collaboration with the PTA and for leading this launch with the Student Council.

Student Success
Thank you for sharing your child’s achievements with us over the past year.
While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student’s accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.
That being said, we encourage you to share your child’s achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child’s accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community’s strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
