Dear Parents,

As always, on the last day of the school year, we have mixed emotions. Excited about the holidays ahead with the opportunity to spend more time with family and friends but sad to say goodbye to some wonderful students and their families who are moving on to other schools.  This week we hosted the first Y6 Leavers Celebration – an evening which gave us a chance to reflect, connect and celebrate our oldest children. Heavily subsidised by the PTA, the evening was a huge success. My thanks go to Valina and the Y6 class reps for putting in so many hours to make it so wonderful for the children.

Today we also say goodbye to some wonderful colleagues who have contributed an enormous amount to the school :

Although and Ms. Nisha, Mrs Robert and Miss Yu leave us after a very short time we will miss their smiling faces and dedication to KJS students.

Milene Narrainen (5K), Sarah Robertson Burd (6RB) have been great members of the teaching team and we thank them for being with us.

Luke and Louise Moxon are Sydney bound with 1.5 more children than they arrived! We all have very fond memories of their time with us.

Last, but by no means least, Ken Woodward started with ESF 28 years ago and has been at KJS for a total of 23 years! Ken leaves us as the longest standing member of staff.  We are thankful for his time with us, recognise that his contribution helped to shape the school and wish him every happiness in the future.

I wish you all the very best of holidays and thank you for your incredible support of all that we do here at Kowloon Junior School in our aim to provide ‘Success for Every Child'.

See you on Tuesday August 15th.

Happy holidays!

Karen Thomas

Head of School

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

Nathan won the "Best Robot Design" prize at the 2017 Asia Pacific Robot Alliance Competition held last week. He had to build a model truck with a motor for a trolley race. The adjudicators said his design was well thought-out and sturdy which served its primary purpose of transporting goods. It was nicely decorated and had fun elements. Nathan has had a keen interest in Lego since he was very young and has been learning lego mechanics for 1.5 years. Nathan, we are VERY proud of you!

Shaivi participated in this social inclusion project with the Youth of HK Society! It was a roadshow dance held in the IFC, the TST clock tower and Whampoa Garden MTR. Great fun in the name of a great cause. Well done Shaivi.

Sahaana's acting skills shone in this Faust production last month.  Well done Sahaana we are proud of you!

Momoka participated in the 9th Hong Kong Shitoryu Karatedo Association Goodwill Championship" and won first prize for both "Kumite"(sparring match) and "Kata"(solo form demonstration). Despite fierce competitors and it being Momoka's first-ever Karate competition, her daily practice paid off.   Well done Momoka!
