Acting Principal’s Message
Dear KJS Families,
I hope that you all had an enjoyable Chinese New Year break. We now move into an uninterrupted nine-week period that we plan to leverage effectively to maximise student learning.
The annual ESF Stakeholder Survey has very recently been opened, and I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to spend a few minutes to complete it if you haven’t done so already. This survey will provide KJS with important feedback that will inform the development of the school. I can assure you that the KJS Senior Leadership Team will invest a significant time and energy into making sense of the data with support from the ESF Centre team. The move to an annual survey will also make it easier to track trends and progress over time, leading to greater agility and responsiveness.
On the last day of school before the CNY holiday, KJS staff and students enjoyed a wonderful Lion Dance and an uplifting CNY Assembly. I would like to thank the KJS Chinese Team members for all of their support and hard work in creating such a great cultural spectacle. I noticed that KJS students and their vast array of strengths were very much at the centre of the event. To put it another way, it was all about the students.
As I mentioned in my opening paragraph, KJS teams across the school plan to take advantage of this nine-week stretch to find out more about the impact we are having on student learning and how we can use that feedback to inform planning, learning, and teaching moving forwards. KJS is on a journey to become more data-informed, and as part of this process, we are currently gathering a large amount of learning data about the use and effectiveness of learning intentions, success criteria, and feedback at KJS. All teams, including the Senior Leadership Team, are involved in this intensive period of data collection, which includes the use of tools such as walkthroughs, student interviews, and observations. The tools are all research-based and have been used previously over the past 18 months. This puts us in a position to gather valid and reliable data that will help us to know how we are going and what we should do next.
