Principal’s Message

Dear Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and that you are all enjoying the start of the new season of less humid weather!

You will have seen the PTA information regarding the upcoming Spooky Boogie Ball. We hope as many of you will be able to support and attend.

We are also planning more opportunities to engage partners outside of PTA events and hope to be able to share that information over the next few weeks

Thank you to all parents who attended the Year 5 residential camp info session on Wednesday evening.

I hope everyone enjoyed the public holiday earlier this week. Now that the weather has cooled, it’s been great to be able to engage in more outdoor learning across the school.

As we finish for the mid-term break, I’d like to thank you for all your support. We are grateful for your ongoing commitment to our school community and look forward to continued collaboration in the weeks and months ahead.

Best wishes for a restful and enjoyable break.

Mr Gavin MacGregor

Principal

Message from the School Nurse

We need your help to maintain our school a safe and healthy environment! We would like to ask parents to check your child’s body temperature and any symptoms before coming to school.

If your child display any of the following symptoms the night before or that morning before coming to school, please keep them home from school and remain out until the symptoms have stopped for 48 hours (without the use of medicine):

■ Temperature of 37.8 °C or higher

■ Abdominal pain, Diarrhoea or Vomiting

■ Suspicious undiagnosed rash and/or itch

■ Frequent, congested cough

■ Yellow or green drainage from nose and/or eyes

It may indicate your child may be carrying something contagious.

It would also be appreciated if you can provide the symptoms list and keep us updated with any other symptoms development when reporting the sick leave. For any diagnosed communicable diseases, e.g. Hand foot mouth disease, Scarlet fever, etc., please inform us as soon as possible to prevent the spread of the disease.

Thank you for helping us to build a healthier and safer environment in our school.

Bring Your Own Utensils

As part of our sustainability drive and to fit with the  school ethos, we ask all families to bring your own eating utensils like bowls, plates, cutlery and water bottles. This will help reduce the waste produced and also the number of single use items, all of which add to our landfills.

The food providers will also not be providing utensils, so please bring your own!

School Uniforms

We would like to remind all families that the old school uniforms (beige colour) for shorts, skorts and long trousers will not be used in school after December 31 2024.

From 1 January 2025, only the new navy blue colour items will be considered as official school uniforms. For more details, please contact the uniform supplier  www.schooluniform.hk directly.

We hope everyone has a good mid term break, enjoys the time off and the cooler weather as we head into the fall season. We will connect with everyone when we return on the week of October 14, where we will share details of the next exciting event…

Best wishes,

The KJS PTA Team.

Student Success

Thank you for sharing your child’s achievements with us over the past year.

While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student’s accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.

That being said, we encourage you to share your child’s achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child’s accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community’s strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
