Principal’s Message

Dear KJS Families,

I hope you all enjoyed the Tuen Ng Festival at the beginning of the week. It was my first experience of this public holiday, and it was wonderful to see families come together to celebrate such a meaningful tradition.

I am thrilled to share that our students represented KJS with incredible talent and enthusiasm at the ESF-wide Evening of Dance held at West Island School yesterday evening. The performances were truly amazing, showcasing the hard work and dedication of our students. A big thanks goes to Ms. Jackson, who guided the children in their preparation for the event. Her support and expertise were instrumental in making this event a success.

We are excited to welcome the School Council members on Monday morning.. In addition to their regular meeting, they will have the opportunity to take a tour of the school, guided by members of our Student Council. This tour will provide valuable insights into the daily life and activities at KJS, and we are looking forward to their visit.

As we approach the end of the term, we find ourselves in a flurry of activities. A key part of this busy period is the final weeks for our Year 6 students, who are busily preparing for their Leavers’ Assembly event on Thursday 27th June. We are looking forward to sharing their achievements and memories with all the families. The assembly promises to be a memorable occasion that celebrates their journey and accomplishments at KJS.

Have a lovely (and hopefully dry!) weekend.

Warm regards,

Mr Gavin MacGregor

Principal

Message from Student Counsellor

Dear Parents,

As we get closer to the end of the school year, I want to wish everyone a safe and restful summer break. The students worked very hard this year and participated in many after school activities! The teachers, support staff and I are very proud of their accomplishments! I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to everyone who attended the talks throughout the year and the opportunity to speak to you individually.

For the upcoming parent talks scheduled for 2024-2025 academic year, I will explore the option using a mix webinar and in person presentation at KJS. I believe this is a fair approach that allows parents to ask individual questions.  I am aware that many parents aren’t able to attend due to work schedules and other commitments. Thus, the presentations will be posted immediately for all parents to view in their own time. As the student counsellor at KJS, I am committed to ensure all students’ wellbeing are supported with close guidance from our school’s senior leadership team.

I have attached the slides for all the presentations conducted this year at KJS for your reference.

Have a great Summer and I look forward to meeting you in Mid August when fall term begins. Please stay tuned for more updates.

Student Success

Thank you for sharing your child’s achievements with us over the past year.

While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student’s accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.

That being said, we encourage you to share your child’s achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child’s accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community’s strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
