Dear KJS Families,
What an incredibly positive start to the school year it has been at KJS. Our students’ love of learning has shone through, and their kindness and curiosity have made me feel very welcome. I have also noticed that our students have provided wonderful support for our new students. They have shared information, shown them around the school, and invited them to play.
Our teachers, educational assistants, and support staff have also created an energising, safe, and stimulating environment for our students. The teamwork and unwavering commitment to support students as individuals have really helped our students to flourish with their learning. Even at this early stage, I am confident to say that I would have loved being a student at KJS.
On Monday evening we were delighted to host a virtual parent session with leading clinical psychologist, Andrew Fuller. Andrew’s core message was one of positivity, highlighting the importance of personalisation in education through the use of learning strengths. Andrew shared some practical and fun examples of different strengths-based approaches to learning that are supported by neuroscience and psychology research. Andrew has literally worked with thousands of young people over the years, so he also speaks from professional experience. If you would like to know more about Andrew’s approaches then please click here. I would like to thank The KJS PTA and Dawn Doucette for supporting and arranging this event.
Kind regards,
Dr Jamie Schmitz
Acting Principal
